Welcome to the 1st podcast of the DECIDE Chair in which we talk about the 8th edition of the Interdisciplinary Conference for the Elderly held on November 3, 2021. This is a scientific conference led and organized by the 4th year nursing students at UIC Barcelona, supported by their professor, Dr. Marian de Juan. On this day, the students are divided into organizing and scientific committees and presidents must be appointed in each committee. In general, they are in charge of organizing the entire event, choosing the topic, setting the date, inviting speakers, reviewing the received summaries and having all the logistics prepared, among others. In addition, the same students also carry out small research projects that they present during the day as oral communications.
This year, Professor Marian and other professors from the Nursing Department, have published a research study about the effect of participating in an event such as this and how it increases the students’ leadership skills. In addition, the Decide Chair has collaborated by awarding the best oral communication prize to the winning students and Dr. Montse Miró from Boehringer Ingelheim gave the awards and closed the event.
We have considered it interesting to launch the new Decide Chair Podcast with this episode in which we interviewed some of the students who have led this event to find out how they have experienced it and what their vision of the event is as students, and Marian de Juan, to find out what keys or advice she would give us. so that we ourselves could organise a day of these characteristics.
